Hi there! This is Huseyin Demirtas speaking.
I help students ace their English proficiency tests such as IELTS and TOEFL or guide young adults in their international career journeys. I run Hüseyin Demirtaş ile İngilizce, one of the most popular ESL a.k.a. English as a Second Language YouTube channels in Turkey.
I am a linguist at heart and by training. I have a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting Studies and a Master’s in Cognitive Science from Boğaziçi University where I also worked as a research assistant during my graduate studies. I am also a Ph.D. dropout in Learning Sciences.
I enjoy technology and am a hobbyist programmer. My coding journey which started in a tiny village in a remote part of Turkey with no internet connection and literally zero learning materials, once took me to Nevada, USA for a front end development summer job and then landed me a part time job with one of the prominent Turkish-English dictionary sites in Turkey. Coding can be magical, it can literally transform your life.
For the past 10 years I have been using technology to improve language education and I am mesmerized by the potential new technologies such as AI bring to the field of education. I enjoy “talking” to computers almost as much as I enjoy talking to people. And I do love a good talk 🙂
Dilsayar will be showcasing and offering access to the tools and materials we have developed for learners of English over the years. After all, it would be selfish to keep all that learning and experience to ourselves.
